1) Try very high ISO for eg ISO1600 or ISO3200. But you will notice the pictures might be 'grainy' due to noise. Depending on the camera you have, some high end camera can shoot at ISO 12800 with no problem. My camera has 1600 but its noisy. I can only use up to ISO400, when I have to shoot higher ISO, I have to correct the noise using photoshop
2) buy a faster lens. Lens that are capable of F2.8 or lower are labelled as 'fast' lens. these are very expensive. But you can try to buy the 50mm F1.8 its about RM300. Play with it. u can shoot indoor without flash with it if u use F1.8-F2.8
3) remember that if you have 18-55mm lens. you need to use shutter speed of 1/55 or faster if you use 55mm, 1/18 or faster if you use 18mm. So the trick is.. use wider angle focal length , it helps to reduce your camera shake blur. And dont forget to turn on Image Stabilization, it buys you 1 stop or so..
4) learn camera holding and 'squeezing' techniques. go to youtube and search for how to hold a camera. there are many techniques.. one of them might suit u. you also need to learn how to stablize your camera using existing furniture, wall or things around you.. all these u can find in you tube. but remember point #3, if u shoot 200mm, your shutter speed has to be 1/200s or faster.. do the math, and your pic will never go blur again.
5)If your subject is not moving then use tripod
6) use your pop up flash.. I don't know how to control the colour temparature using on camera pop-up flash, I dont know it is strong enough to over power the ambient and get rid of colour contamination. . but u can try use manual mode using the instruction above, your on-camera flash is ETTL too.. I just worry it might not be strong enough. Any way if you shoot the face or closed up, and the on-camera flash is strong enough then for better results try get light tipper or puffer. Tipper give you better quality of light compared to bare or puffer
light tipper , good for indoors if ceiling is low and white color
puffer.. good for outdoors emergency fill flash or as the triggering remote flash without contaminating the photo
